Welcome To Our Friendly And Exciting Judo Club!

We believe Judo is for everyone:

Our club has been going for a long time and has had a huge range of people as members over the years (see history). Yes, there are some first rate Judoka (Judo students) who have and still do attend; however, we also have special needs members, people who are there just for the fitness and loads of 'just regular people'. Judo is a sport, an art and a form of self discipline. These all come together in one activity to help build the person as a whole. That is why we are all so committed to continuing and growing this excellent sport.

When And Where

For maps and details, please see our contact page. We have senior meetings and junior at Bodicote Scout Hut (behind the village hall). We also have a junior session at Kidlington Sports Center.

I'd like to try, but I am worried it will just be a bunch of blokes!

No, we have a good mix of male and female Judoka.

Judo sounds cool, but I am not happy around strangers.

We understand that it can be hard. On of our members is mildly autistic and has found that the friendly supportive nature of our club has really helped him come out of his shell.

I like the idea of the technique, but I don't like fighting.

Many people doing Judo like to practice fighting and go to gradings, but if you don't you will not be alone, there are other club members who don't grade and still love the sport.

That all sounds nice, but I want to do some hard Judo practice for my next grading!

No problem, bring it on... Seriously, check out our growing video section to see some training going on. We have some very active and ambitious members and welcome all challenges.

The picture here is of Steve throwing Dan with a Uki-Goshi with John and Tony looking up some kata theory in the background.

So where are you?

Our club is based in the main sports centers of both Banbury and Kidlington. These locations give easy transport access from central and north Oxfordshire plus the surrounding areas.

If you have any other questions, just get in contact.

Pop in, see us in action, maybe even put a 'toe on the mat':

A lot of people are interested in finding out if Judo could be good for them, but it can be daunting to make that first step. To make the first step as easy as possible, we have a drop-in-and-watch approach. Just turn up to a session and see what is going off. If it appeals to you, we will make room on the mat for anyone who is interested. Do not worry about getting a gi (the white jacket and trousers) to start with, we can work around that for the first few sessions.

No, we have a good mix of male and female Judoka.

Already a Judoka? Please visit any time, or just come join:

We have a large range of grades at both adult and junior levels. Visitors are bound to find something of benefit from a session one the mate with our instructors and enthusiastic members. We believe Judo benefits from being 'joined up' so everyone and the sport can grow as one!

News & Feeds:

RSS News Feed

What is this?
RSS is a really simple way to keep up with all the news you are interested in and ignore the rest! Websites that have news and events information on them often publish an RSS feed. It really does not matter what this means, other than you go get a feed reader like FeedReader and add the above feed to it. If you need any help - just mail me - ajt@nerds-central.com. Click the title below this to open up the FeedReader home page in a new window.

FeedReader

What is this?
FeedReader is a RSS feed reading application. FeedReader is totally free of any charge, it is made by enthusiasts for the fun of it. I (Alex Turner) use it all the time and fully recommend it. If anyone has other good suggestions for a RSS feed reader, please let me know and I can add them to the site.

News Letters

What is this?
The easier it is to publish news, the more likely it is for people to publish it! So, we use Google's blogging (blog=weblog) service (again - free) to let any club member who asks add news posts. If you are interested in getting added to the authors list, just email me: ajt@nerds-central.com!

Thanks!

Many thanks to Web Sitters for providing this web space for free to support our club and all the good it does in the community.
